It was not just the fireworks that brightened the night in India on Independence Day, but also the ones that flourished on the Bengaluru turf, as the Blue Tigers have four fresh faces included in their Indian roster for the first time, two each at the back and at the front, to add to the excitement and the anticipation within the camp. The BFA/AIFF staff were all smiles while having down the likes of Sunil Benchamin (Army man 32 year) and attacking player Manvir Singh (24 year) back in the team fold after a six year hiatus. This is the start of a brave new time in Indian football.

Conclusion:

As the last embers of summer fireworks die out, a light is restored on India’s football landscape, a combination of Jamil’s youth, grit and a new story starting to paint over what might well be a defining chapter. A camp that veterans have run for so long, this is a camp ready to bloom. If the new kids can rise, if a few legends like Chhetri can come back burning, there might be a new howl from the Blue Tigers soon: leaner, braver and of a different shape.
