Just ahead of The International 2025, Valve has released patch 7.39d for Dota 2, which includes some important balance changes, some item adjustments, and a new mechanic called Quartero’s Curios. The patch is designed to help transition the game into the largest and most-known tournament in the Dota 2 esports scene, while adjusting the meta without even greatly altering the game itself.
Along with hero and items changes, the patch will also render a few terrain changes and some enchantment changes that could impact strategy in the upcoming matches.
General Updates
Terrain Changes
- Increased spawnboxes of Triangle Ancient camps
- Fixed a ward spot in Radiant safe lane hard camp
- Removed several trees from the inside corner of the Dire Safelane small camp
Item Updates
Blade Mail
- Damage bonus decreased from +18 to +15
- Damage Return passive attack damage returned decreased from 20 + 20% to 10 + 15%

- Attack Range bonus decreased from +150 to +140

Patch 7.39d bring some fine tuned balance changes ahead of The International 2025. It tones down few overperforming heroes and items, while also giving some boosts to ones that didn’t see much use. The update also adds the new Quartero’s Curios mechanic and has some tweaks to the map and enchantments. All this sets up the game for competitive play at high-stakes level, without changing too much at once.
